OH MY GOD MY COUSIN'S WEDDING KICKED ASS.
My cousins Leslie and Lilibeth have quite a bit in common. Living in the same Paradise Hills neighborhood (619 what what), we all went to Zamorano elementary, Bell Junior High, Morse High School, and UC San Diego. They of course are older than I am, with Leslie being 28 and Lilibeth being 26 (i think that's right, i'll edit it later if i find differently). Leslie (and Lilibeth later on) were both devoted Kappa Delta Phi's. They however went to Marshall (i don't know what they graduated in, i'll edit that in later on too).
Leslie and her new husband Jason have been living in L.A. near Venice Beach for a few years (since 1999), but their family (my uncle louis and auntie josie, with lilibeth and jeremy) moved to Miramar around 1995. So the wedding was held in St Gregory the Great, a church in Poway, conveniently close to their house. My dad gave me the video camera for the day, so i began videotaping everyone and everything, doing the whole "wave hi!" thing.
The wedding was way different from weddings on TV. Like on Friends, they just do the vows, blah blah, with this ring i thee wed, and all that stuff. But at these weddings (and as my mom said, the majority of all weddings), they threw in a communion also. So it was as if we were at Easter mass, where there was a lot of Bible reading involved. The hour long procession ended with a touching first kiss as husband and wife, and it was finally official, Jason and Leslie Sanchez.
So now what? it was 300pm, and the reception wasn't scheduled until 530. So all the cousins said "we are friggin hungry" and went to eat at KFC on Miramar Road. Omg, the 9 of us ordered $56 worth of chicken, tacos, side orders, and drinks. We ate all that stuff in 20 minutes. We weren't waiting for no reception.
Straight from there we headed over to the La Jolla Marriott to have the wedding reception. Well it was 540pm, but nothing started yet. So we all watched the Laker game instead. Then we got to go inside and watch the small reception ceremonies, lots of toasts, speeches, performances by cousins singing songs, then EAT EAT EAT. The cake cutting, the boquet toss, the garter toss, the who can win the centerpiece game, then the dances (money dance, father daughter, mother son, etc). it was pretty damn cool.
I saw Emma there. You may remember Emma as the bride in Habanera from PCC. It turns out she is the Cousin of the Wife of one of the groom Jason's cousins. Follow?
I busted out rave lights during the dance. I tore it up. But I can't cWalk worth crap in dance shoes.
The night didn't end then. We were in the parking lot ready to leave, but we couldn't find our car. It was sooooo like an episode of Seinfeld.
