All 9 miners were rescued!
In case you have like watched ZERO news this past week, you should have heard about the 9 coal miners trapped in the Quecreek Mine in Somerset, Pennsylvania when water crashed through and flooded the coal mine. Anyway i was helping my mom on the computer at around 9pm, and on Channel 8 along the bottom it said "9 trapped miners found alive in PA; Gov says in 'pretty good shape', rescue efforts underway".
i was like HELL YEAH. my mom, my sister, and I all turned on MSNBC and CNN to watch the news. The drillers broke through the surface apparently and sent down their communication device (i should learn morse code) and then got voice confirmation that they were alright. It was 10:16pm their time, so for the next few hours they sent down food and water, and then sent down cradles to bring each miner up one by one.
it was so great. it was like Apollo 13, when you lose so much hope but then at the last second, perseverence wins out and you get back safely. What a great news story too. It was so refreshing to see something other than a child abduction or a wall street crash. This was such an uplifting story. After the 9th miner came out, i was actually clapping and cheering on the couch. I took that motivation and used it into a grueling 30 minute DDR session.
Now that i'm all dried off after the shower, it's time for some Graffiti on Yahoo. Damn it Jeff this better be good.
