you got me lifted shifted higher than a ceiling, and ooh wee it's the ultimate feeling
so i haven't blogged in a while, so since i'm in a semi-dapper mood because it's a saturday night/early morning, here's the stuff that i've been doing in the past 2 weeks:
** (aug 15) last friday i went with alice to Bonita Cove in Mission Beach for a picnic for your 1/2 year anniversary. so to prepare ahead of time i went to Ralph's and michelle guided me over the phone on what fruits she might or might not like. so after hauling quite a lot of fruit in one basket (i have no idea why i didn't get a cart), i headed back to their apt and sliced up all the fruit. i stole alice's tupperwares from the bottom shelf and packed it all into a filing cabinet (which would act as the basket for today) and waited for her to come back home.
ok so it wasn't happening, she was still @ work. so i killed time @ the library when she finally said she was ready.
we finally got there around 230 and camped out on a spot behind the grass. it's been hot in san diego that week but if you're by the shore it gets really nice and cool. in the evening we went to Borders in mission valley then headed back to La Jolla
** (aug 16) it was finally beach day! i've waited a long time to go back to the beach, and i planned everything out like where we would go, what time we would leave, who would go, what we would bring, what we would do at the beach, etc. i couldn't even sleep the night before, i was excited i guess.
well then i realized something: never do anything in groups. groups are horrible ideas (unless it's a study group for school). but for hanging out, groups is hard because you'll never get anyone to agree on anything, and you'll always get people who drop out or go astray, and all your planning goes for naught.
so after losing a few people to studying and to the Hot Import Daze car show which I wanted to go to but then I realized that it does cost at least $20 (although in the future I would consider going to one, hopefully they do have Hot Import Nights in Del Mar later), it was just me alice michelle frank steph jeane & michelle (a second one). after waiting for about 2 hours for people to get to la jolla and for all of us to meet in one place so we could go, we finally managed to leave around 130pmish. And even then we still had to stop by albertson's to get some sunblock for jeane and michelle.
so finally we get onto 805 south to 8 west to west mission bay drive (yes i memorized the directiosn because after going there for the 6th time in a few months you have to find a way not to get lost every time, which i still manage to do). so we get onto Mission Beach Road and we think success!
oh wait, we have to find parking still. so after fighting about 20 other cars for potential parking spots, we found a guy walking with his cell phone going towards the parking lot. we asked him if he was leaving and he said "yeah i'm over there". so while we were following him, we were joined by 3 other cars who were hoping that maybe we were just following him for fun and not actually trying to park. so when we get to the guy's spot, everyone else is waiting for him too. so i inch up closer to the car and when he backs out, i make way for him and quickly jump into the vacant parking space.
see, this is what we go through just to get a spot at the beach on a sunny saturday afternoon.
done right? no, now we have another obstacle. some people wanted the shade, some wanted the sun. so our party split up and i was like ok i just want to go in the water, so after unloading all my stuff i jumped in.
oh my. the water was like 50 degrees. i was freezing my arse off and my feet felt like they were about to fall off it was so cold in the ocean. but after maybe 10 minutes i got used to the temperature and was brave enough to duck my head down (although i didn't appreciate the taste of a few gulps of salt water).
so throughout the day we tossed a beach ball around in the water, then i took a nap in the sun while alice did homework, then went on jumping around frolicing with the waves until it got dark. thanks to alice for bringing sandwiches. it felt good to eat since i hadn't that day anyway. i was hoping that maybe everyone would like go eat for lunch or dinner afterward, but again everyone split up in such.
next time i go to the beach, i'm going myself.
** miscellaneous:
- i failed my math 109 midterm, i therefore hate math 109. i'm on a sinking boat and like, there are holes in it. and we don't have duct tape to fix the holes.
- i want Cingular because we get 3 times the minutes for $30 less !!!! Verizon has by far the best service, with a clear Can You Hear Me Now network, but then it's expensive to keep up.
- and i'm sleepy so that's all i can think of. yeah, i have a fantasy football draft i want to get to in about 1.5 hours so i'm going to go nap on the floor next to my alarm for an hour. goodnight.
